Propagation Balls
Propagating has never been easier with these reusable High Pressure Propagation Balls!
These balls use the ancient method of air layering which is about growing roots direct from a parent plant, without damaging the parent plant. This method allows you to produce new plants from hard to root plants like Magnolias and Camellias. It also works on plants like roses, climbers and trees, including fruit trees.
Designed with an interlock system to secure the balls onto the branch to ensure it will stay in place, but you can use plastic ties to hold the ball securely.
Fill the ball with Sphagnum Moss Gold Grade, or other suitable potting medium to see results in around 6-8 weeks. Grows stronger roots faster as it’s still using all the nutrients and energy of the parent plant.

- Peel off the top layer of bark to expose the soft green underneath to a width of about 2-2.5cm where the rooting is needed.
- Add compacted moistened soil or sphagnum moss to the ball.
- Secure the ball to the exposed branch.
- Water regularly through the specially designed inlet to keep the growing roots moist.
- Wait for around 6-8 weeks for roots to grow. NB may take longer depending on tree species.
