Horticultural Perlite
A lightweight sterile volcanic glass formed from obsidian with a relatively high water content, use quality horticultural perlite on its own or mixed with potting mix to add porosity to propagation and soil mixes. Perlite aerates and loosens the soil for better drainage, while still ensuring good water retention. Used on its own for propagating cuttings and seedlings, perlite is reusable many times over when not mixed with other potting media.
Available in the following grades/sizes to suit a variety of uses:
Medium Grade Perlite (1.6-3mm)
Coarse Grade Perlite (3-5mm)
Super Coarse Grade Perlite (5-7mm)
Jumbo Grade Perlite (6.5-10mm)
Properties:
- Improves soil structure and promotes a good air/water relationship.
- Prevents overwatering and underwatering.
- Air holding capacity of soil is increased, increasing drainage and preventing soil compaction.
- Reduces cracking and crusting of soil surface.
- Promotes even root distribution.
- Reusable when not mixed with other potting media.
Uses:
- Cultivation of seeds and cuttings.
- Hydroponics.
- Added to other potting mediums to improve structure and drainage.
- Suitable for growing a variety of indoor and outdoor plants like orchids, food crops, aroids, succulents etc.

Perlite dust can aggravate existing respiratory conditions and cause eye irritation. Wear eye and mouth protection when using this product.
