Rainbow Plant
Houttuynia cordata variegata
Lovely heart shaped leaves in variegated shades of green that changes into red, cream and yellow making this a lovely colourful addition to your pond or water feature. Gorgeous little white flowers show over Spring/Summer. Used in China and Vietnam as a delicious herb! Also known as the Chameleon Plant, this herbaceous perennial goes dormant in Winter.

Position: Full Sun / Part Shade

Water Zone: 2 (for pond edges or bog areas)

Preferred Soil Type: Any, Well Drained. We recommend using Grow Better Premium Potting Mix if potted. If adding plants to a pond that contains fish, we recommend using garden soil or potting mix with no added fertilisers. Then add a layer of pebbles to keep the soil from washing away.

Landscape Uses: Aquatic Garden, Bog Garden, Mass Planting, Courtyard, Container / Pot, Cut Flowers, Attracts Birds

Ongoing Care: Keep moist, prefers wet boggy soil. Best kept in pots as it can easily spread to other parts of the garden. Liquid feed and mulch if in garden or pot. Slow-release fertiliser annually or as needed. We recommend Campbells Rustica Plus Fertiliser. Fertilisers not generally needed if plant is in a pond that contains live fish.
